Health Freak

3 more days and I start the Clean program.

I highly suggest reading the book Clean by Alejandro Junger. Definitely life changing. Or lifestyle changing at least. In just the first few chapters I learned so much about how the body works and how different foods affect the body.  There's a list of foods you can and can't eat on the Clean diet.  Some of the ones you can't are tomatoes, oranges, strawberries, soy products, gluten, dairy, eggs, and a bunch of other things.  The whole idea of the program is to detox the body while restoring it to natural health. Basically returns you to the state you were made to be in. It's 3 weeks long (with some prep time) and includes some recipes in the back of the book while is extremely helpful because it requires replacing breakfast and dinner with liquid meals.  When food is in liquid form it takes less energy to digest so the body can you more energy for detox and restoration. It also eliminates common allergens (i.e. strawberries, chocolate, gluten, and soy) because when eaten (especially if you are allergic) they cause the body to go into attack mode, preventing it from getting any nutrients or digesting because it's spending its energy on destroying whatever you just consumed.
The main focus is detox though.  Toxins are in so many things we consume/breathe and damage the villi and microvilli in our intestines, preventing us from getting the nutrients we need.  By removing the toxins, the villi are restored, etc. We get healthy.

I made my friend send me a flower for valentine's day so I would feel loved.  How pathetic is that.  And I only got three valentines, one being from my mother.

Such a lonely day. Not to mention boring as hell.  I didn't do anything. I couldn't do anything. I couldn't read music at all. Orchestra was so difficult. At least in string all we did was play scales so that didn't require music.  I even tried to read my book during study long after I went to a practice room and failed at playing everything. I got through one page in 40 minutes. It was an awful day. Maybe I'm getting sick or something. I think I need a day off. Major day off. I don't want to miss gym tomorrow though. And I have a stats quiz which I will fail but I'd rather fail tomorrow then postpone it and fail even more miserably.
Wahoo.

Netflix...I have a love-hate relation with it. On the one hand, it means I can get yoga and pilates workout videos whenever I want. On the other hand, I've been watching, on average, 3 movies a day on weekends and about 5 episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer a day during the school week.  I need an intervention.  Maybe someone should come over and make snowmen with me or a snow fort or both because the snow is good for that finally.

I've been wicked health-conscious lately. It might be getting a little extreme.  I'm constantly checking nutrition facts on food for fat content and carbs.  I don't think I can lower my carb intake much since I don't eat meat but I don't think I'll have a problem with that with all the exercising I've been doing.  I get home from school, ski 20 minutes on the Nordic Track, do yoga for about 45 min, then around 30 min of pilates along with the classic ab exercise from dance so that's another 5ish minutes.  After that I track my food intake on mypyramid.gov which is wonderful.  And I don't eat after 8.  Wii Fit is also pretty great with tracking the physical stuff.  I haven't done much exercising with that since we got Netflix but it's still pretty fun. One flaw in my plan...I've been angling the Nordic Track to the left so I can watch Rugrats or Buffy while skiing. However, after doing that for about a month I've realized that my left thigh is slightly skinnier than my left and so I figured it's probably due to the fact that I've been putting more weight on my left leg while skiing so I can see the tv.  Fixed that problem hopefully: I angled it to the right now and I'll leave it like that for a month and after that I'll alternate each day.  So far I've stuck to my schedule 95% of the time. The other 5% I'm either really busy or sick.  But I find that if I'm sick, exercising help me get better a lot faster than just lying around.

Oh wait, another problem.  I don't do homework at home or practice all my instruments very much anymore because of Netflix.  At least I have 1.5 studies to do my work and get a practice room if I feel like it.

Also, this will be yet another valentines day where I don't have a date.  Every year I'm single around valentines day. It's like a gap in my dating life.  I've been in quite a few relationships and not one of them has lasted till valentines day. Love sucks. Maybe I'll go on a date with my mother. I owe her one.

I'm really going health crazy. It's like 8th grade all over again.

I decided today is childhood nostalgia day.
Plan for today:
Wake up late and make pancakes (raspberry and chocolate chip) with orange juice
Play in the snow- I made a tunnel/den but it collapsed on me. Then I tried to make my way around the yard....hardest thing ever. You can't walk but when you try to crawl you get lost up to your shoulders. I also got frost bite on my lower back :] classic.
Have hot chocolate
Watch Sleeping Beauty
Make grilled cheese and tomato soup because we don't have Ramen
Play Spyro on PS1
Make Kraft mac and cheese with ketchup and pepper for dinner

I'll probably add some more stuff in between

I miss dance.  I found myself ranting about pointe shoes on Tina's blog. Sorry, Tina. I want to take some classes but it would be weird to go back to the studio now. I don't know when I could go anyway since it's competition season and most of the classes are for rehearsals now. I should break out my tap shoes and dance in the kitchen. I miss tap the most probably.

I wish I had a bunny. They're so soft and adorable!
